Moira & John

Moira approached us about an existing red bus design that is featured on our website. However she wanted us to change the colour to green, as thats the colour of their regional bus in Scotland. They wanted quite a lot of on the day stationery that had not been designed for that product yet, which was exciting as it was a chance for us to really expand this product range. Thankfully she brought some brilliant ideas to table. We made sure that the green we used was the right green and paired the stationery with craft envelopes. They wanted to create a quirky personal addition to their stationery. A sweet prop card designed to mimic a bus destination board. It was wonderful to create such a big range of products for this lovely couple, including; a menu, a journey planner (order of service), stickers, table numbers and  place names.  We took the bus across onto their table plan. and finally a photo booth frame of the bus windows. (Becky and I pictured having some fun with props) We with Moira and John all the happiness in the world for their future together. Anna & Keith

THE BRIEF It’s great when a soon to be bride and groom come to us and know exactly what colours and theme they want for their stationery. Anna and Keith were no exception. They told us they liked craft paper and their colour scheme was purple. They also liked the idea of having some bunting printed on the invites as they said they would be having it around the ceremony room. They wanted to see options with the bunting on craft paper and on textured white card. WHAT WE DID After a few design options it was decided that the invitation should be bordered with craft and printed on white textured card. We decided to do the RSVP on craft as a contrast to the hammered white texture of the invitation. It gave the stationery the rustic feel they wanted but also kept it clean and easy to read. We used modern fonts to keep the design fresh, incorporating a type writer font. we drew the outline of bunting in black pen, incorporating their initials into the centre of the bunting adding a sweet personal touch. The mini hearts featured throughout as well, mirroring the little heart in the bunting. Finally we filled the bunting with fabric swatches in their purple colour...

Ben & Pam

THE BRIEF We had the pleasure of designing a bespoke wedding invitation set for Ben and Pam, who were looking for something a little more personal from their invites. They wanted to incorporate elements of the wedding venue and include hints towards what will happen on the day. They loved water colours and a mix of fonts. Importantly they wanted us to make sure the invites had an element of fun as well as being elegant. WHAT WE DID To bring personal touches to the invites we included a watercolour of a special tree at the wedding venue, which couples can be married under. We also included a theme park style map, with hints to what will happen on the day and a caricature of Ben, Pam and their three dogs within the map. We kept to two fonts and colours to make an elegant looking invitation and information sheet. It was all finished off with some personalised tags, which were wrapped around the invites with twine and pretty patterned envelope inserts. We wish Pam and Ben every happiness in their future lives together!! It was a pleasure to design for this lovely couple....

Introducing the JJ

Introducing the JJ

After a whirl wind 8 weeks filled with sleepless nights, tears, tantrums and smiles, I’m just starting to feel a little normal again…whatever that is! And thanks to my very supportive family and my wonderful business partner and friend Deva, the business has been in full swing still and we’ve been able to keep doing what we love. Most importantly I’ve been able to enjoy my beautiful baby boy, Jasper Jack Cooke.   On the 25th April Jamie and I welcomed this gorgeous little man into the world and once again our lives have gone into a blur of nappies, endless feeds and the kind of exhaustion that makes you question what day of the week it is, or worse…’what’s my name again?’   This time however is slightly different, as we now have our hilariously crazy two and a half year old Reuben in the mix and our businesses to run. Life is certainly full to the brim and every second is filled with a million tasks that all need doing now! However I wouldn’t have it any other way. Welcome to the world JJ xx                  ...

Ben & Cara

THE BRIEF We were approached by a couple who wanted typographic, minimalistic wedding stationery designed for them as a bespoke job. They were keen to have metallic gold inserts but wanted to keep the invites and stationery quite simple and clean looking. They told us their wedding had a modern theme with blacks and golds as the main colours. They also wanted to include a time line of their wedding Day at the Baltic and a menu. WHAT WE DID We mixed serif fonts, both regular and Italic in grey and black to give the invites a classic clean look. The letters of their first names were used as a monogram which appeared throughout the stationery to tie it all together. Finally we sourced some thin champagne/gold metallic paper to line their black...

Chloe & Stevo

It is always a pleasure to get asked to do friends stationery. When Chloe and Peter approached us we were excited but also wanted to make sure we did a great job. THE BRIEF They wanted a calendar to feature on their save the date outlining the date they were getting married; 2nd January 2016. They wanted their wedding invitations to be clean and simple on white with a possible introduction of minimal colour. WHAT WE DID We designed their save the dates first working closely with Chloe via email.  The text we used was a simple typewriter font but we accompanied it with a calligraphy font to give it contrast. We then added a splash of red colour with a heart (to outline the date) which we created using red ink. The heart then became the integral point of the design and we carried that through to the rest of the stationery. We featured the heart on a tag along with their wedding date, this bound the set together with thin black ribbon. Their wedding day arrived and what a beautiful day it was at Castle Leslie. We were well looked after by the staff and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. We wish Stevo and Chloe every happiness in their future...

Andrew and Ross

Feeling very lucky here at Top Table Design, we’ve been a year in business now and have had the chance to work with some wonderful brides and grooms. Our last couple Andrew and Ross were no exception, helping us finish our first year on a high. To bring their personalities and great sense of style into their invites was a challenge we relished and after our initial meeting we couldn’t wait to get started… We were going for bold, fun and quirky with this design, with little hints towards some of their finishing touches planned for the big day…and so the lego men belly band was created. Black and Red were predominately used to create a striking effect and we sourced some beautiful black pearlescent pockets to bring the look together. We introduced a font that would reflect the illuminated letter lights that would feature in their wedding day, and carried this through from the band to the invite, info and RSVP… Andrew and Ross successfully used wording to set the tone for their wedding and make their guests feel involved. They used little touches like asking their guests to contribute by sharing a piece of advice and song choice on the rsvps. We had a lot of fun designing and putting together these invites. We were delighted to receive this from Andrew and Ross in the post. Wishing our grooms a very happy life together...

The Blue Bell

This summer the Blue Bell pub in the picturesque setting of Jesmond Vale came under new management. We were privileged to be involved in the exciting project of the re-brand, which  included a new logo, menu designs, posters, flyers and much more. Here’s some images of our work below, however if you’re in Newcastle and want a closer look why not pop into the pub for a drink and a bite to eat…as if you needed an excuse!   https://twitter.com/BlueBellJesmond...

Nicola and Dan

We love it when brides come to us with their ideas, it always makes for a fun and creative process. We get to design something totally new, keeping our creative juices flowing and the bride and groom get to have a real input into the design, seeing their concepts through from start to finish. We were involved in a small part of Nicola and Dan’s wedding, but if these little touches are anything to go by I’m sure their wedding day is going to be packed with style and fabulous finishes. Here’s a look at what was created from our recent wedding stationery photo shoot. Place names, I Spy Cards, Damson Gin Miniature bottle labels and Order of Service.   Happy wedding day and best wishes Nicola and Dan xx    ...

Lily

On the 10th July a furry bundle of mischief and joy came into our lives. It was two days before we were due to go to Glastonbury, with lots to sort out but after much umming and ahhing we decided to ‘Just go and have a look at a few puppies’… Our friend Robbie had arranged to get a puppy for his girlfriend Colleen’s Birthday and asked us if we wanted to get them from the same litter. Obviously it doesn’t take a genius to realise that when you go to look at a litter of six  7 week old cocker spaniel puppies you are likely to be taking one home. When we saw the puppies we instantly fell in love. The whole thing was meant to be top secret but somehow the cat (dog) was let out the bag at Glastonbury. Needless to say Colleen was very happy with her premature Birthday surprise. Lily (Black cocker) is our dog  and her sister, Winnie is Robbie and Coleen’s dog. We think they will be the best of friends as they get older and we already plan frequent play dates ( to tire them out for our benefit too!).When we collected Lily on the 10 July she howled all the way home. At times in the car i looked at my boyfriend Dan and wondered if we had made a horrible mistake. During the journey Lily managed to lock her jaw round the cage (I had no idea this would lead me to a name for her alter ego). As soon as Lily came into our house she made herself right at home; chewing plaster, bringing muddy balls in from the garden, even depositing snails all round the kitchen. I soon realised Lily became ‘Jaws’ when she got too excited, biting absolutely everything in her path, like the cutest but deadliest piranha snapping away. We soon realised that by having Lily in the studio with us as we worked at Top Table Design HQ she became our naughty little mascot. When she was sweet she would curl up around our office stairs, when she was Jaws she would make a bee line for any electrical cable in the near vicinity. Lily is a welcome addition to the household and to the Top Table Design team, even if she can be fairly naughty at...
